Sayward is a village that is approximately 3/4 of an hour north of Campbell River. The small community is a green oasis nestled in a valley that is connected by the Salmon River and bordered by the Johnstone Straits.
For those visiting the area, they will be treated to a smorgasbord of recreational delights since Sayward serves as the gateway to Northern Vancouver Island. Those who are excited about outdoor pursuits can partake in recreational activities such as skiing Mt. Cain, kayaking the local lakes, hiking the infamous K’usam Climb trail, or exploring one of the many caves. For the quieter paced traveller, they can spend the day enjoying bird watching at the Salmon River estuary and wildlife reserve, discovering the local history at the Cablehouse Café and abandoned Port of H’kusam, or take in a whale watching tour out of Kelsey Bay.
